Harare, Zimbabwe (News of The South) – A peculiar incident unfolded at Zimbabwe House in Harare recently, involving Auxilia Mnangagwa, the First Lady of Zimbabwe, and King Munhumutapa. According to the monarch, who was at the premises to deliver a letter, the First Lady posed a rather unusual question: a comparison of his stature to that of her husband, President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
King Munhumutapa alleges that he responded by asserting the distinct nature of their roles, stating, “You can’t compare president and King Munhumutapa because King Munhumutapa is King Munhumutapa, president is a president and they are two different people with different assignments.”
This statement underscores the perceived difference in their authority and positions, one being a traditional royal figure and the other a head of state.
Following this exchange, the narrative takes an intriguing turn. King Munhumutapa claims that the spirit of Munhumutapa intervened, leading to Auxilia Mnangagwa apologising for her question. The details surrounding this spiritual intervention add an element of mystique to the encounter.
Subsequently, King Munhumutapa stated that the First Lady advised him to consult July Moyo, who was then the Minister of Local Government to inform him that King Munhumutapa has returned. This event raises several points of analysis. Secondly, the First Lady’s question, while seemingly unconventional, could be interpreted in various ways. It might reflect a personal curiosity, or perhaps touch upon broader societal discussions about power, influence, and historical significance in Zimbabwe. According to King Munhumutapa after this encounter Auxilia Mnangagwa now respects King Munhumutapa.
