Highlanders Football Club fell to their bitter rivals Dynamos Football Club at the National Sports Stadium in Zimbabwe, on Sunday June 22.
In a dull Premier soccer league match played before a decent crowd, Dynamos FC from Harare continued their dominance over their bitter rivals Highlanders from Bulawayo.
A defensive blunder by Bosso defence deep in the 33rd minute presented Washington Pakamisa the Dynamos striker Washington Pakamisa with an opportunity to punish Highlanders.
Pakamisa unleashed a thunder bolt past the helpless Njabulo Nyoni in goals for Bosso.
It has been eight years since Bosso as they are affectionately called by their multitude of fans beat their bitter rival Dynamos, Dembare.
Considering they way the drama unfolded at the giant stadium on Sunday it looks like Bosso do not have a formula yet on how to stop Dynamos.
The return from injury of impressive left back Ocean Mushure seemed to be just what the Doctor prescribed for Dembare .
Mushure’s corners were always a thorn in the flesh for Highlanders rearguard. Every time he delivered one the defence was found in sixes and sevens.
In the 15th minute Alex Munanwa set up Joel Ngodzo through only for the overweight Highlanders midfielder to shoot straight at the goalkeeper who did well to push the ball over the bar for a corner.
In the second half Highlanders gaffer Kelvin Kaindu took out Gabriel Nyoni for Ozias Zibande, Kuda Mahachi for Valentine Ndaba and Joel Ngodzo for Knox Mtizwa but the move failed to yield the desired results.
While Dynamos was more effective on the left flank through Ronald Chitiyo, Ocean Mushure and Devon Chafa, Bosso was always a shade too slow.
Players like Bruce Kangwa and in-form Charles Sibanda tried to bring Bosso back into the game but were let down by their teammates who seemed to be in Harare on holiday.
This win moves Dynamos to third position on the log standing with 22 points from 12 games, the same number of points with the top two teams but an inferior goal difference.
Highlander dropped from second to fourth position, a point adrift of the three top teams from the same number of games.
However, contrary to prior expectations the match failed to live up to the fans expectations.
