May I take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone that took their time to attend the repatriation conference held in Leicester on 27 July 2019.To all the speakers I say special thanks to you all for the fantastic presentations and to the Lady organizer Princess Gina Majuru I say well done for the splendid job and may God bless you all for that spirit of oneness which demonstrated that we are all one family and should work together for the success of the program.
I do reckon that I took most of the speakers’ time and yet even so, there was a lot more to put to the audience. However, let me hasten to apologize for any inconvenience my long contribution may have caused to anyone present.
I want to draw your attention to the issue of “bira” or traditional memorial that did not have enough time to be discussed. Some of you may have had your thoughts and hearts left in limbo regarding the issue.
I just want to clarify that the celebration which some of you may have heard at some point prior to the conference, that it should take place at the Museum of Natural History, is not the renowned traditional memorial which we all know as “bira” where the spirit mediums and or other traditional leaders gather to perform traditional rituals no, but rather a common ceremonial event, a somewhat reception and farewell event where the museum executives, representatives of the museum trustees if possible and or a British government representative, to partake and give farewell speeches as the repatriation chapter is closed. While at the same time traditional leaders’ and or chiefs’ and families’ representatives from Zimbabwe as well as the Zimbabwe government representatives, including ordinary Zimbabweans, will have to be expected to attend to witness the closure of the repatriation chapter and give a heroic send off to our ancestors’ remains.
However, the actual traditional memorial “bira” involving all spiritual stake holders including family members and possibly ordinary villagers, will have to be held in Zimbabwe after the necessary consultations between the appropriate traditional and spiritual protocol including families. It will be anticipated however, that the respectable elderly people including chiefs and all spiritual stake holders or masvikiro and government representatives and possibly the British Embassy representative in Zimbabwe, will be waiting at the Zimbabwe international airport to receive the remains, when they arrive back home as soon as everything is complete.
I wish all families and or descendants resident in England could come forward together and support this momentous exercise. Let us all work together as one family regardless of our spiritual relationship to these ancestors whose remains need repatriation. Let us all have one heart and join hands together with love and respect.
Let us all remember that the Israelites did it out of respect and love for their forefather Joseph in conformity with God’s directive, as they had hope for their promised land (Genesis 50:24-25)
The reason why Pharaoh and his army chased after the Israelites was not because they had fled and needed them for slavery, no, but it was because they had left Egypt carrying with them the remains of their ancestor Joseph. So Pharaoh and his people where apparently spiritually tormented so much that they felt something was not right, because the Egyptians appeared to have prospered by the blessings bestowed upon the Israelites by God through their ancestor Joseph.
However, the Herero and Nama people of Namibia and descendants of the Tanzanian chimurenga heroes did it and so were the Kauma people of South Australia and we can as well do it.
