Brazil Talisman Neymar scored two goals in the openning games of the 2014 World Cup to beat Croatia3-1.

Goals came in the 29th and 71st minutes to cancel out an 11th minute opener which came via an own goal from home defender Marcelo.

Neymar, began the match as many people’s pre tournament bet to be top scorer; his form in Sao Paulo suggests that he may well be able to deal with the hype.

His first goal was a sweeping effort that crept into the net from 25 yards. His second was a controversial penalty after Fred appeared to dive in the Croatia penalty area. However, the referee pointed to the spot and Neymar did the rest.

Chelsea’s Oscar sealed his team’s win after a lightning break in the final minute.

The hosts will be relieved to get their campaign under way with a victory.

Some observers have suggested that the five-times World Cup winners may buckle under the pressure of staging the greatest show on Earth.

However, Phil Scolari’s men showed genuine fortitude with their comeback win against the talented Croatians.

The other two teams in Group A, Mexico and Cameroon, play each other on June 13.
