Harare Mayor, Jacob Mafume Denied Bail.
Deputy chief magistrate Bianca Makwande has denied Harare Mayor, Councillor Jacob Mafume bail on charges of criminal abuse of office.
He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with criminal abuse of office, after he allegedly allocated two residential stands in Westlea without following due process.

Makwande ruled that Mafume be denied bail as police were yet to complete investigations into the matter.
She stated that the court also considered his ties to his work place where he was likely to interfere with witnesses and conceal evidence.
“Mafume facilitated for his sister and work mate to get stands without being on the housing waiting list while many have spent years on the list without being allocated stands,” she said.
One of the stands he gave up is reportedly belonging to someone else, thus more evidence he misused his power in doing personal favours.
He will appear in court for routine remand on December 14, 2020.
