Manchester City came from behind to register a victory at the Etihad in 2-1 win over Liverpool, keeping their unbeaten run at home in the league intact.
City scored through their skipper Vincent Kompany and Alvaro Negredo to cancel Philippe Coutinho’s strike and managed to move the team to second place on log with only three points behind the log leaders Arsenal.
The Chilean coach, Manuel Pellegrini was, however, delighted with his side’s character in maintaining 100% unbeaten run.
“It was very important to win because Liverpool were the best team in the Premier League,” he told reporters.”They were top of the table before the match so if they had won they would be four points in front of us.
“It was very essential, especially when we were losing 1-0, the personality of the team to go for the game.
“I’m very happy with our response, because it`s not easy when you play such a difficult team who can play on the counter-attack when you are losing 1-0.It’s very easy for them to have space, but we defended well.”
Man City and Arsenal are only seperated with just three points heading into the winter and Christmas break.
