Load Shedding Crippling Zimbabwe SME Sector

Harare, Zimbabwe (News Of The South) – The continuous power outages currently taking place in many areas of the country have gone a long way in crippling business operations of various Small to Medium Enterprises a predicament that is posing e negative impact on the livelihoods of many people.
As the economy is never getting any sober many people over the years opted to venture into Small to Medium Enterprises as they thrive hard to fight a battle for survival.
However the quest to find an answer to the myriad question of bread and butter has been shuttered in vain as the majority of SME activities requires the the heavy presents of electricity to be operational which is currently in limbo.
A survey conducted by this news crew this Monday indicate that most businesses are currently temporarily suspended as the absence of power is crippling the business operations.
From dawn to dusk most small business units around high residential suburbs of Glenview and Highfield had not electricity.
In an interview with Fortune Mambishi a Gazaland Trader in Highfield expressed anxiety over the way Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Company is currently intensify massive loadsheding on power consumers.
“The current power outage we are experiencing is crippling our business operations right now we cannot do anything because every activity we do revolves around availability of power,” he said.
Elijah Shiri a local electrician says his area of work is now subjected to jeopardy as power the current power outage is now restricting us from getting clients.
“As an electrician my area of work relies on the availability of power supply and this is how I get my clients but as it stands I am now starving as I cannot sustain myself.”
The ongoing power cut supply has exacerbated the economic situation in the country with some urban dwellers now resorting to relocate to thier rural areas.
The recent appointment of Fortune Chasi as the Minister of Energy and Power Development had raised greater anticipations that the electricity situation in the country would be ameliorated.
