Harare, Zimbabwe (News of The South) – In an exclusive statement from his residence in Harare, King Munhumutapa has asserted that the recent court cases involving Zimbabwean Minister of Local Government, Daniel Garwe, ultimately reinforce the legality of his kingship. According to the King, Minister Garwe, in his official capacity, was representing the government and, by extension, the President of Zimbabwe.

King Munhumutapa highlighted the crucial role of the President in appointing judges, including Justice Munangati Manongwa, who presided over a relevant case. He argued that a judge’s decision becomes law through this appointment process. The King stated that while Minister Garwe may have held a different view regarding the kingship, Justice Manongwa, appointed by the President to uphold the law and truth, has fulfilled his duty.

This explanation, King Munhumutapa believes, should clarify the legal standing for those who questioned the legitimacy of granting kingdom status. He contends that both Minister Garwe and Justice Manongwa, despite operating in different government departments, ultimately represent the authority of the President.
Crucially, King Munhumutapa declared that the President has already granted the kingship, thereby automatically making it legal. He views the judgment by Justice Munangati Manongwa as lawful and legally sound within this context.
The King emphasized the significance of this interpretation for Zimbabweans struggling with legal complexities. He further stated that the matter is now definitively closed, as the granting of kingship was an order by consent, signifying agreement from all involved parties. In a strong pronouncement, King Munhumutapa claimed that no appeal can ever be made on this issue, a finality that will stand until the second coming of Jesus Christ.

He also pointed to the High Court granting of this status in the presence of a Commissioner of Oath, an official also appointed by the President. King Munhumutapa argued that the affidavit produced in this process is a legal document that cannot be challenged.
This interpretation by King Munhumutapa seeks to provide a definitive legal basis for his claim, linking it directly to the authority and actions of the President of Zimbabwe. It remains to be seen how this explanation will be received by those who have previously questioned the legality of the kingdom status. See documents from high court attached below:
