Harare, Zimbabwe(News of the South)-A North Korean chemist and two woman are set to be charged with the murder of Kim Jong Nam, the brother of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, who was assassinated at a Malaysian airport with suspected VX nerve gas.
According to a media report by RFA the female suspects, Indonesian Siti Aisyah and Doan Thi Huong poisoned Kim Jong Nam by smearing him with the banned nerve agent on February 13.
Another Korean man in police custody, Ri Jong Chol, holds a doctorate in chemistry and is one of eight other North Koreans whom police have named as suspects in the assassination.
“They will be charged under Section 302 which covers murder with intent”.
“Sources familiar with the ongoing probe said-as the results of the post-mortem have been obtained by investigators indicating that a nerve agent called VX was used in killing the victim”, the report says.
A South Korean Intelligence report has also come out with details that growing evidence is pointing at the assassination as a creation of the North Korean government.
“Among eight suspects in this case, four are from the ministry of state security and two who actually took action are from the foreign ministry”.
“That is why it is a case of terrorism led by the state, directly organized by the ministry of state security and the foreign ministry” said a quoted official.
This has been corroborated by events in Malaysian where police have named a secretary at Pyongyang’s embassy as one of the eight suspects and have threatened to issue warrants of arrest unless the embassy turns her over for questioning.
Kim Jong Nam who was estranged from his half-brother, Kim Jong Un, died within 20 minutes of the nerve agent being applied to his face.
VX nerve agent is classified under Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) by the United Nations.
