Zimbabwe – MDC -T is on the verge of splitting and by so doing reducing its strength which was once too much that the mighty ZANU PF had to hang onto power through a re-run in 2008.
Too much power which was in the MDC’s hands made the revolutionary party amend laws so as to uncostitutionly silence the MDC – T and reduce its expanding rate through the AIPPA and POSA and through propaganda which was aired on all state owned radio and television stations.
Through the AIPPA and POSA Zanu PF managed to deny the MDC rallies and oppositional views to be aired,journalists where gaged as well as the public was silenced as the freedom of expression was confiscated, all in an attempt to stop the MDC.
The MDC was never allowed to have space in state media in good cause but find thier space there in a negative picture.
Some national policies where implemented but Zanu PF as a way to limit the growth of the MDC,policies such as Murambatsvina and Land Reform were hastly done in an attempt to please people and to reduce people from towns which were MDC strongholds.
But that MDC seems to be loosing it all now and no longer looks like the old one which gave Zanu PF sleepless nights.
MDC’s problems seem to be all coming from its leader Morgan Tsvangirai,who seems to be becoming a new Mussolini evidenced by his firing of anyone who dares oppose him,something allowed in a democratic party which many thought MDC was representing.
It all started in 2005 when Tsvangirai started his dictatorial tendencies but many failed to notice because he was almost a demigod of Zimbabwean politics.
He was found at fault on the 2005 split as he uncostitutionally denied a outcome of the National Council vote which had favoured pro-senatarial representation which he did not want,and this pushed the then Secretary General out which marked the birth of the MDC-T,having his initial on the party name.
To show that the MDC President just wanted a split when the senatorial elections where done he imposed his candidates which was contradictory to his judgement which led to the split of the party.
Tsvangirai during his campaigns towards 2013, promised that if defeated he would pass the baton to others and like wise he was defeated resoundingly and some of the party top brass Mangoma wrote to him advising him to step down, a question which simply wanted an answer through an early congress but Tsvangirai opted to use his dictatorial powers by suspending Mangoma who was beaten up and never heard of any party action being taken on those who beat him up.
After expelling Mangoma and his sympathisers Morgan was at it again declaring an early congress,which was supposed to his answer to Mangoma’s letter before expelling him.
It now shows that Morgan does not want a threat near him,once he feels it he fires people for speaking out and goes on to do what they had advised him to do after having fired them.
Is this the type of democracy which he used to preach of?.
Tsvangirai once attacked Robert Mugabe for staying for long as both Zanu PF and national president but here we are he is at 15 years and still wants to stand for 2018 elections for a 5 year term and if he wins that election he will finish that term at 23 at the helm of MDC – T.
