Cape Town, South Africa. (News Of The South) – Popularly known as weed, dagga, cannabis, or mbanje in the Zimbabwean language Shona, today the plant enjoyed popularity as its fans thronged the streets of Capetown to show support for the plant for the 14th annual Cannabis March from Castle through the heart of the mother city.

The peaceful and legal march serves to “interrogate the social perceptions of Cannabis by putting it out there, forcing people to look at the issues, to freely and publicly discuss the benefits of legalisation,” said authorities responsible for organising the event.

The event organiser, who spoke To News Of The South on condition of anonymity, added that “spreading the word through rallies, media events, social gatherings and community projects is our mandate and legal cause.”

The aim therefore is to spread the word and insight debate and discussion on safe and healthy usage and subsequently its legalization.

The Capetown Cannabis Walk forms part of a global initiative in over 80 countries, whose plight is to show support for cannabis culture and educate its supporters/consumers and non-consumers alike.

Legalisation of the plant and its smoking has been debated upon for quite some time in South Africa and many other countries alike but with no luck for the weed consumers.
