Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – Movement for Democratic Change – Alliance spokesperson, Fadzai Mahere has spoken against the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission for not taking action against the well-known government officials in the country.

“Corruption is killing us, it is everywhere but ZACC is mute.

“The inescapable conclusion that the public has to reach is that this important institution in the fight against corruption has become capture, we want action because corruption is killing us,” she said.

“Arrest the big fish and invest the cases thoroughly. Where is Prisca Mupfumira, where is the NSSA investigation?

“What is being done to investigate corruption at ZINARA, ZIMSEC and all the parastetals which were named by the auditor general’s reports?”
“Year in and year out the auditor general does all the work but her reports gather dust and are not followed up by any meaningful investigation, any meaningful prosecution or conviction. Corruption is killing us.”

Mahere went on to say that that ZACC instead of stemming out corruption, are now becoming the place where corruption cases get swept under the carpet. ZACC is breeding corruption now as they have not exposed anyone.

She also addressed the issue of looters and said that they were supposed to pay them back as they are being killed by corruption.

“We cannot have a situation where Obadiah Moyo for the last two three weeks has been exposed for facilitating corruption and yet that very same health minister is failing to pay the frontline workers in the Covid-19 crisis.

“What that shows us is that the very human cost of corruption is at our doorstep, you then see the cars that are being driven by these people.
Instead of putting the money where it matters they are putting the money in their pockets, ZACC should be on the forefront to investigate this but they are not,” said Mahere.

Mahere stressed that MDC- A respects that will of law as they are the rightful owners of the Harvest House but are using other facilities to do their activities.

“We are focused in helping the people in helping people fight for their rights,” she said.
