But that’s not all! Prepare to be amazed by demonstrations of working emergency vehicles, giving you a glimpse into how these impressive machines operate in real-life situations. It’s a truly captivating experience for both children and adults alike.

For the little ones, there’s a special treat in store at the kids dress up zone. Here, children can unleash their inner hero by dressing up and having their picture taken in front of Leicester Museum’s very own collection of historic Fire Engines – a perfect photo opportunity to capture the memories of the day!
Beyond the modern marvels, Abbey Pumping Station will also be showcasing its own impressive heritage. Witness the majestic steam powered Beam Engine in action, a true spectacle of Victorian engineering. And for a delightful ride, hop aboard the train hauled by the charming Steam Locomotive. At just 50p per ride (cash at the station or card at reception/café), it’s an affordable treat for the whole family. Please remember that all children must be accompanied by an adult on these steam train adventures.

Adding to the vintage charm, an array of historic vehicles will be proudly displayed throughout the grounds, offering a fascinating look back at the evolution of emergency services. And when hunger strikes, be sure to grab some delicious chips from the vintage coal-fired Chip Van – a truly unique culinary experience! The café will also be open for those seeking light refreshments.
