Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – Parents are now challenging their children with the statement, “Emma is Deputy Minister at 23 while you are playing with your life!”

At age 23 Emma Theofilus was appointed the Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technologies. She is now Namibia’s youngest Member of Parliament as well as Minister.

The incredible young woman also holds a Law degree from the University of Namibia and a Diploma in African Feminism and Gender Studies from the University of South Africa.

In 2015 Emma was the Junior Councilor of the City of Windhoek and in 2016 she was the Deputy Chairperson of the Children’s Parliament.

In 2016 Emma said this about democracy, “We should not only raise complains and concerns but also offer recommendations and solutions to pertinent issues affecting us such as unemployment, we should involve ourselves in matters of national development.”

“I do not think I am special, but l do not think l am inexperienced and I also do not think being young and female has anything to do with my appointment. Anything I set myself to and any environment l want to work into, I can do it; so the issue of inexperience does not hold any water,” said Theofilus as reported by The Namibian.

“I have taken up challenges before as a Youth Leader and l think this is no different, as long as l have the support and the guidance l do not think l will go wrong,” said Emma.

This shows that she has decided to face her challenges head on by not being a ‘know it all’ but by taking and much help as she can get from her superiors.
