Birmingham, UK – Martin Chitsa, the outspoken UK-based Zimbabwean music blogger known as Mr. Smooth, has been nominated for the prestigious Zim Achievers Award in the Male Personality category. The Zim Achievers Awards, founded by Conrad Maanza, annually celebrate the accomplishments of Zimbabweans residing in the United Kingdom. The ceremony for the 2025 edition is set to take place in Birmingham on Saturday, May 17th at The Grand Hotel.

Mr. Smooth has carved a unique and often controversial niche for himself within the UK Zimbabwean music scene. He is a familiar face at various Zimbabwean music events and barbecues across the UK, where he meticulously observes and later shares his unfiltered analysis on his popular Facebook page.
His approach is characterized by a no-holds-barred style, earning him both admiration and criticism. While some promoters appreciate his honest feedback, others have found themselves on the receiving end of his sharp commentary. Mr. Smooth is known for his thorough assessments, often arriving at events well in advance to scrutinize aspects such as the venue setup, toilet facilities, and overall hygiene standards.

Once an event commences, Mr. Smooth diligently takes notes, paying close attention to the start and finish times, and ensuring he captures a comprehensive overview of the proceedings. He has become particularly known for labeling promoters who he perceives as unprofessional as “cowboys and cowgirls” in his online reviews.

Now, Mr. Smooth’s contribution to the community, albeit a sometimes critical one, has been recognized with a nomination in the Male Personality category at the 15th annual Zim Achievers Awards UK. He is competing against other prominent UK-based male figures for the award.

Voting for the nominees commenced on April 14th and will close on Wednesday, April 30th. Those wishing to support Mr. Smooth can cast their votes on the official Zim Achievers Awards website. The awards ceremony on May 17th promises to be a notable event, celebrating the diverse achievements of Zimbabweans in the UK.
The Zim Achievers Awards feature a wide range of categories, recognizing excellence across various fields including business, entrepreneurship, music, fashion, and community leadership. This year’s event in Birmingham is highly anticipated as it marks another year of honoring the talent and hard work within the Zimbabwean diaspora in the UK.
