Birmingham, UK (News of The South) – Chimurenga music icon Dr. Thomas “Mukanya” Mapfumo is set to grace the UK stage once more for what is anticipated to be a momentous final performance. Despite his previously announced “last show” in Leicester in 2023, an overwhelming demand from his dedicated fanbase for more Chimurenga music has prompted his return.
Mapfumo, renowned for his traditional Zimbabwean music, holds a significant place in history, having begun his career during Zimbabwe’s Chimurenga war for independence. His music served as a powerful source of motivation and inspiration for the troops and the wider populace during that critical period.
With a career spanning several decades, Dr. Mapfumo has extensively toured the world, performing at festivals, concerts, and various events. His travels have not only enriched his own experiences but also allowed him to inspire many and share his profound musical knowledge.
The upcoming “Bank Holiday Weekend Grand Finale UK Show” promises an action-packed day on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at The New Bingley Hall, 1 Hockley Circus, Birmingham B18 5PP. Promoters Phab Entertainment, led by Joab Mugugu and Phil Wabatikwa, are spearheading this highly anticipated event.
Joab Mugugu emphasized the quality of the venue, stating that The Bingley Hall is an “upmarket venue” and fans can expect “exceptional quality and their money’s worth.” He also revealed to News of The South that “one or two UK based artists” will be added to the lineup, with Kurai Makore already confirmed to perform live in support.
Given the immense popularity of Dr. Mapfumo and the fervent request from his fans, this event is highly likely to be sold out. Phab Entertainment has strongly encouraged fans to purchase their tickets early to avoid disappointment.
