MDC- Alliance leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa said Zimbabwe will fall back into intolerable poverty and suffering for the next five years if there is no change in the system of governance claiming there is no confidence in President-elect Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Addressing the media at the MDC Headquarters in Harare this afternoon, Adv Chamisa said things have already started going “down south” in all the indicators of the economy saying it is a response to the situation at hand in terms of the presidency issue.

“We have seen how the dollar/bond note has responded, the stock market has responded, the prices have responded, you in the communities have responded.

“There is totally no confidence in Zanu PF and there is totally no confidence in Mr Mnangagwa,” he said.

He added that this vote of no confident began with an emphatic vote for an alternative government and also said they have already started on a government plan.

“You voted for the alternative, you voted for opportunity, you voted for change and we are already working and rolling out a government work programme to make sure that we respond to our issues,” Adv Chamisa said.

Despite filing a challenge against the presidential results only Adv Chamisa also said President Mnangagwa did not win two thirds majority in parliamentary elections and they are challenging most of the results.

He also said they engineered and rigged most of the elections.

“They did not win the parliamentary election even in the rural areas where they have claimed that they won, they did not.

“They were given victory which they did not deserve and whoever gave them, this is what we seek through the constitutional means and legal means to reverse and invalidate,” he added.

The advocate also raised red flags on the conduct of President Mnangagwa Zanu PF, likening it to that of terror groups especially in the rural areas where he claims people have never tasted independence.

“For the past 38 years people in the rural areas have been subjected to captivity and one wonders, the behaviour of colleagues in Zanu PF is totally deplorable.

“They want to behave in the manner that Al-Shabaab, Al qaeda, ISIS; would behave using terrorism as a way of mobilising consent in society and that’s what they do in the rural areas,” said Adv Chamisa.

He said President Mnangagwa should accept the will of the people and leave office saying the people voted for change and they are he (Advocate Chamisa) is ready to assume office.
