Johannesburg, South Africa. – Malawian born Prophet, Shepherd Bushiri, founder and leader of the Enlightened Christian Gathering’s (ECG) has announced that he will start selling maize at a cheap price so that many Malawians can afford to buy the maize.
The South African based Prophet said that he will start selling maize all over Malawi at a reduced price of US$6 per 50kg bag which is currently going for US$26.
“Last year, I raised a sence of urgency on the need to deal with the hunger situation in the country.
Furthermore, I offered a tangible solution to key stakeholders on the maize market to open up for a working arrangement that could have prevented the current dire maize situation.
I have decided to take it up alone. I am, from tomorrow, going to sale maize at the cheapest price ever. I will be selling the 50kg bag at MK5000 (US$6). I understand the 50kg bag has gone to as worse as MK20 000 (US$26) in some areas.
Our first markets will be in Ntcheu, and then Salima, Chikwawa, Karonga, Chitipa and Phalombe. We will make sure that we reach every area where there is a huge need.
The point is that I want to show the nation that my focus is to help, not to do politics. Join me as we work together towards the betterment of our country. God bless you all, God bless Malawi,” said Bushiri.
In recent years, Bushiri has helped Malawi with maize relief to people who are affected by hunger.
