ANC Apologises to fellow South Africans for breaching lockdown regulations.

PRETORIA, South Africa.(News of the South)-The African National Congress has apologised to all of South Africa as they are noted to have gone and crowded themselves at Andrew Mlangeni’s house last month.

They are apologising for going against the lockdown rules which do not allow more than 50 people to be present at a social gathering and also not practising social distancing.

The national executive committee for ANC have been noted to have had expressed deepest regret for the lockdown regulations breach that they did outside the late struggle hero Andrew Mlangeni’s house sometime in July.

A lot of people were angered by the visuals of people that were packed in numbers outside Mlangeni’s house as his remains arrived ahead of his funeral the following day.

The lockdown regulations currently in place include physical distancing and the prohibition of gatherings of more than 50 people.

ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe and NEC member Fikile Mbalula attempted to lay blame for the failure to adhere to lockdown regulations on those who assembled as the remains of Mlangeni arrived.

ANC’s Mabe said only a selected number of leaders had been deployed by the party to attend the funeral and that the rest were people who had lined the streets in Mlangeni’s honour.

“The ANC regrets and apologized for the incident on 28 July when, during the arrival of the cortege at the home, difficulties arose with maintaining social distance and keeping the numbers down,” the NEC said

The ANC also noted how people were grieving across the country and the condolences that they offered to the stalwart’s family and community.

Police have since said they were investigating the matter, a development which the ANC welcomed.

The party will cooperate with law enforcement structures who are investigating the matter.

South Africa is currently on Level 3 of its lockdown as Covid-19 confirmed cases have surpassed half a million mark.
