(News of The South) – A new political party, the African Democratic Party (ADP) made up of  entirely new players in the country’s politics has been formed in Zimbabwe.

According to interim President of the party, Marcellina Chikasha, “We are all new players with fresh ideas, energy, drive and passion. We are fiercely patriotic. We are from astonishingly diverse backgrounds but what brought us together and what continues to bind us is our love for Zimbabwe,” she said.

Marcellina who is said to be turning 42 in September 2014 is an Accountant by profession and a mother of two. She also says she is a pastor with a political calling.

She also said at a recent press conference that they have an ambition of taking ahead the democratic process started by Morgan Tsvangirai, the leader of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).

“We currently have structures in four provinces and have held one resounding rally,” Chikasha said.

According to Chikasha, ADP was started in April 2014 by a group of god fearing individuals whose hearts were broken at the state of the country.

ADP say they have a vision to create a value driven, fully functional, prosperous and globally competitive nation. Their mission is to empower Zimbabweans at every level of society through a fast paced developmental strategy that will launch Zimbabwe into developed status in 15 years.

Other objectives include mapping out a development strategy for Zimbabwe through sound economic and social policies. They also hope to ensure that every Zimbabwean has a quality of life that will protect their dignity as human beings, among other numerous objectives.
