Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – If there is any justification for deferring opening of schools from July 28, 2020, it is the deferment of MDC T Extra Ordinary Congress by the government. The Congress was penciled for July 31, 2020 but has now been indefinitely deferred because of Covid 19.
If a Congress of adults can be deferred why not opening of schools where we are dealing with minors? It is clear there is something surprising in our reasoning as a nation. We are ready to sacrifice the lives of the world’s best asset, viz, children, and that of the managers of that asset. The health, safety and welfare of teachers and pupils must be a high priority. For this reason teachers will resist any attempts to make a short cut over WHO standards, let alone welfare of teachers.
