Lilongwe, Malawi (News of the South) Social and political analyst, Humphrey Mvula has described Peter Mutharika’s tennure of office as a mediocre that any incoming president should not ever repeat.
Speaking in a talk show Programme on one of the local television channels, Times Tv, Mvula said Mutharika engaged people of low Calibre with mediocre type of reasoning hence performing badly during his tennure of office as president of the republic of Malawi.
During a talk show alongside Malawi’s premier media personalities, Brian Banda and George Kasakula, Mvula gave a number of well analysed cases that quantified the reasons behind the failure of Mutharika in many aspects which include wrong choice of political advisors.
“He is a man who engaged advisors of low Calibre and mediocre type of reasoning hence laying numerous foundations stones across the country that have been judged as a joke by many Malawians who expressed their anger on the presidential election day,” Mvula said.
Mvula then upheld the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC), Constitutional and High Court judges, media houses and journalists for the job well done who joined forces to fight gallantly against the Mutharika’s arrogance.
In a related development, the regional party Governor for Democratic Progress Party (DPP) has complained about continued Tonse Alliance led intimidations and harassments subjected towards it’s supporters in the northern region.DPP registers concerns about harassments.
Speaking at a press briefing held in the city of Mzuzu on Saturday, the party’s regional Governor, Mzomera Ngwira said it is disheartening for the country to continue registering cases of intimidation just because of political differences.
“We know we are going to be intimidated, tortured or even killed along the way to the next general election in 2024, but we shall remain United and focused, those who will survive the MCP persecution will return and win that election, that is what DPP is known for,” Ngwira said.
However, Ngwira had no kind words for the whole media in the country which he accused of being biased in it’s coverage having leaned towards the Tonse Alliance side before, during and after the elections.
Meanwhile, there is no immediate response from either the MCP or the UTM on the allegations the DPP has raised levelled against them.
