At LEAST 27 people have been killed in a terror attack on hotels in a popular Tunisian tourist resort this afternoon (Jun 26).

According to the interior ministry, at least 27 people, mostly foreigners, have been killed in an attack on a beach near two tourist hotels in the Tunisian resort town of Sousse.

One of the gunmen was killed and police are pursuing the other, said interior ministry spokesman Mohammed Ali Aroui.

Initially tourists thought the noise from the shots were firecrackers, but the resort has been gripped by panic since they realised they were gunshots.

One of the hotels that were attacked is Hotel Riu Imperial Marhaba in Sousse, local radio stations have said.

The bloodshed comes the same day as at least two other deadly terrorist attacks in Europe and the Middle East.

One person was beheaded and two injured at a gas factory near Lyon in southeastern France, according to French President Francois Hollande.

And ISIS has claimed responsibility for an apparent bomb blast at the Shiite-affiliated Al-Sadiq mosque in Kuwait’s capital during Friday prayers, leading to a number of death and injuries.
