Masiyiwa Wins Court Case

0 0Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-Strive Masiyiwa’s KweseTV has won its case at the High Court in which the state was seeking to cancel its licence.
According to reports Dr Dish Pvt Ltd, which is the broadcasting firm contracted to be Kwese Content Distributor won its case, Urgent Chamber Application HC7999/17) against licence cancellation.
Earlier this week local media publications reported that “Dr Dish, represented by Masiyiwa’s associate, Tawanda Nyambirai, on Tuesday made an urgent chamber application demanding that the High Court reverse a decision by Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) chief executive officer, Obert Muganyura to cancel its licence’.
In the application Econet argued that Muganyura’s actions, without board approval, were ultra vires the powers vested in him, and this threatened over 1 600 jobs and about $4 million in projected income.
