(News of The South) – We all have goals, dreams and objectives of where we want to end up in life. At any point in life there is something we want to achieve in life. For that reason, we are constantly embarking on a journey to realizing our goals and dreams. We are moving from point A to Point B.
While almost everyone leaves point A heading towards point B, not everyone makes it to their desired destination. Some quit very early into their journey, some quit while they are about to make it to point B, and only a few actually make it to point B and rejoice for all the effort they would have put in attaining their goals and enjoy the benefits that comes with their attained success.
The greatest reason people don’t make it to point B isn’t that the road to success and their dreams is filled with obstacles that prevents them from succeeding. Sometimes we fail for reasons well beyond our control and that’s understandable. We all face obstacles, but there is nothing in this world that’s worth achieving that comes easy. The greatest reason people don’t make it is that they quit on the way, most likely because the journey seems too long.
There are a lot of motivational materials that can encourage you to keep on going. It’s all simple reading the books, magazines or various articles that can help you in your way. But executing your plan isn’t easy, especially when you don’t see immediate results. It is always important to keep a progress report, well documenting progress made from the day you started on your journey to the present day.
Going about life embracing progress, however small it may be is important. After all, small progress is still progress.
From the picture above, the other guy decided to quit on his dreams not knowing how close he was to reaching them. Had he kept a report of all the progress he had made, plus taking account of all the effort he had employed in his dreams, he would have kept on going, ad realizing the riches that lay ahead of him. In life, patience is a virtue, one we need the most when going after our dreams.
What is it that you want in life? What lies at your point B? The fact that you want it makes it important enough for you to fight for it. If it is worth the effort, then you need to keep tabs on the progress made. Wouldn’t you want to know how the effort you have applied measures up with the results?
So the next time the journey gets tough and you can’t take it anymore. Take a break, assess all the effort you have poured and examine the progress already made. However small it may be, it will be enough to renew your energy to carry on moving towards your dreams. Maybe this way, they may be no one quitting their dreams. Someone said you cannot fail unless you quit, by keeping a progress report, even before you have achieved your dreams, you will surely know that you haven’t failed.
