Harare. (News of The South) -ZANU PF Harare Provincial chairman Goowills Masimirembwa should go cried Zanu PF supporters in Harare East constituency as nomination court declared losing candidate Mavies Gumbo winner against people’s choice Cde Terence Mukupe.
Harare East Zanu PF supporters have dismissed the nomination court decision declaring losing candidate Mavies Gumbo winner.
It’s been a week after the ZANU PF Harare East primary elections were held in which Cde Terence Mukupe was declared winner and people’s choice.
On Thursday (April 16)the nomination court declared losing candidate Mavies Gumbo winner on grounds only known to a few.
Close sources have revealed that all the fracas and sabotage from candidates nomination to the chaos at voting day and finally to the nomination court was purported by corrupt and selfish Harare Province Chairman Masimirembwa.
Below is a narration on why Harare Province chairman Masimirembwa declared war on elected Harare East MP Terence Mukupe.
During Terence Mukupe’s tenure as CEO of Allied Financial Holdings he sourced $50 milion from a Mauritius based investor.
By the time the deal was about to sail through, Hon Minister of Transport Obert Mpofu who was the major shareholder tried to sideline Mukupe for fear of losing controlling stake for it is believed if the deal was to sail through, Mpofu’s shareholding was
going to be diluted significantly to 25 percent post the transaction.
This led to Cde Mukupe resigning from the post as Bank’s CEO as well as leading the investors to pull out sighting lack of trust in the Hon Minister of Transport.Masimirembwa is Mpofu’s relative.(Tezvara and mukwasha)
This did not go down well with the Hon Minister who then instructed Masimirembwa to put stumbling blocks for Terence Mukupe’s reign to contest in the ZANU PF Harare East Primary Elections.
Cde Terence Mukupe received all negative publicity and was disqualified for false accusations one being failure to possess a 5 year district experience which later were all identified as baseless and senseless leading to him being given a green light to contest in the elections.
This was all done with the influence from Provincial Chairman Masimirembwa.
The war didn’t end there, upon realizing that the move to have Mukupe disqualified was not fruitful, Masimirembwa engaged fellow contestant Mavies Gumbo and other district and provincial coordinators to block Mukupe from campaigning especially on areas like Support Unit where one Mai Machipisa was identified blocking Mukupe from campaigning.
Seeing their bid to block Mukupe from campaigning was again fruitless, they didn’t end there but rather on voting day it was discovered that most voting cell records were tempered with and some were missing.
Voter apathy was introduced whereby until 12pm residents from Magamba district did not know their polling station after being tossed to Chikurubi Hall then to Tafara Community Center and finally to Chemhanza.
Because the residence knew the leader they wanted, they were frustrated but could not easily give up. They patiently waited in the scorching sun to cast their votes.
While Mukupe was investing on the people, his fellow contestants were investing on dirty tricks thus discrediting themselves to possess true leadership qualifications and skills.
“Masimirembwa must go, he can’t impose a leader on us, we voted for a leader we wanted. President should know this.
“This is daylight robbery and we can’t afford to wait and keep quiet. We are going to fight for our voted”, cried Magamba District chairman.
According to sources from Harare East,Ignatius Chombo’s involvement and influence to the Nomination Court came to light as he was labelled the “Godfather responsible for corruption and outcome of results in Harare East.
