(News of The South) – The second edition of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Africa Members’ Convention (AMC) is set to take place at the Kigali Convention Centre in Rwanda on 9 – 11 December 2019. The AMC is a landmark African event on ACCA’s calendar, bringing together up to 1,000 distinguished ACCA members from all spheres of finance and business, within the public and private sectors, to tap into a wealth of resources, know-how, inspiration and unparalleled insights.
The event will attract a diverse and high calibre group of speakers from the region and across the globe to share learnings and offer practical recommendations for Africa’s economic growth. This year’s theme will be Evolution of finance: Africa thriving in a disruptive socio-technomic dispensation.
The convention will ignite new business opportunities through thought leadership, defining best practice, anticipating risks, re-thinking business models and turning ideas into solutions. Attendees will have the chance to hear from several industry leaders and engage with them during the cocktail and dinner events on the evenings of Day 1 and 2 of the conference.

The AMC will host up to 1,000 people from 33 countries across Africa. Delegates come from accounting and finance professions – both in the public and private sectors. It’s an opportunity to learn about global challenges and the solutions that can be applied to delegate’s local markets and organizations. There will be plenary and breakout sessions as well as masterclasses (from various iconic speakers from within and outside the organization) focusing on various pertinent issues the profession is facing.
2017 saw the inaugural AMC event which took place in October in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Several influential and renowned finance and business leaders from across the continent were in attendance, including; Ambassador Mumba S. Kapumpa (Corporate Governance Expert, Zambia), Prof. Nii Quaynor, the father of the internet in Africa, Dr. Nigel Chanakira, Chairman Success Motivation Institute, Walter Muwandi, CEO CCG Systems, South Africa, Daniel Asapokhai, Executive Secretary, CEO of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Prof. Patrick Lumumba and South African public speaker – Vusi Thembekwayo amongst many others.
