Conferences and exhibitions will not reopen on 1 October, British prime minister confirms

LONDON,United Kingdom.(News Of the South)- Conferences and exhibitions will not be allowed to run from October 1st, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed.
Addressing the House of Commons, the prime minister said: “We must acknowledge that the spread of the virus is affecting our ability to reopen business conferences and exhibitions and large sporting events, we will not be able to do this from 1 October.
“I recognise the implications for our sports clubs, which are the life and soul of our communities, and my Rt. Honourable friends the chancellor and culture secretary are working urgently on what we can do to support them.”
Meetings Industry Association chief says industry has been “ignored”
The prime minister confirmed that this ruling would be place in for six months, and that now the UK is now at Covid level 4.
The announcement comes the same days as events giant Informa has announced pre-tax loss of £739.9m in its financial results for the six-months ended 30 June 2020.
The group updated on its ongoing actions to ensure stability and security through 2021, amid continuing Covid-19 disruption and an extension of event postponements into spring 2021.
The results for H1 showed an adjusted operating profit of £118.6m (H1 2019: £435.7m) on revenues of £814.4m (H1 2019: £1,407.6m), amid significant pandemic-impact on the physical events business; Covid-19 non-cash impairments and exceptional costs impacted the overall loss.
