Commonwealth Games Finale To Feature Usain Bolt At Afro Caribean Centre

Good news for those who were not able to watch the commonwealth Games is that they will now have the opportunity to meet Usain Bolt the world`s fastest man at the Afro Caribbean centre at the special finale party on Saturday July 1 from 1pm to 1am.

This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the living Legend so fans are encouraged to come early to avoid disappointment. Entry will be free and there will be lots of fodd and drink on sale.

As part of the Commonwealth Festive Fever, the African Caribbean Network organised a series of events to mark the 22nd games at the African-Caribbean Centre (66 Osborne Street, Glasgow).

Since the beginning of the Glasgow games the centre has been buzzing with a hive of activities including; Storytelling and poetry, music, drumming and dance Workshops, Open mic evenings, and live performances from various artists including the internationally acclaimed Funky Shepherds of Lesotho and the Scottish Indie band Mickey9s.

Featuring Live Performances by local and international artists will commence at 1pm including:
Ayawara Ensemble
Afriko Ghanaian Highlife Band from The Netherlands
2 Scottish Bands yet to be confirmed
Spoken poetry by a visiting Jamaican Poet: Randy McLaren
Zenga from Democratic Republic of Congo
Afroscot dancing by Joy-Maria
Belly-dancing by Scottish performer Morag Mackenzie
Musical performance by Jerry Bower from the Zuba band
Musical performance from Sobe from Nigeria
Story telling by Paddy Hanrahan
Including DJ Miyake and many more…
Visitors to the centre can purchase raffle tickets for £2.00 and win special prizes. Well wishers are also welcome to donate to the centre.
