Zimbabwe. (News Of The South)- Buffaloes coach Luke “Vahombe” Masomere remains defiant and claims he is not yet losing sleep over his team’s lack lustre performances that have seen some of the club’s executives throwing in the towel and the coach refusing to sign in new players during the window period among other plethora of reasons.
“I am not moved by the developments taking place in (Buffaloes) the club. Earlier I had indicated that I need to sign to more players to beef our strike force, but as things stand I cannot do that now. We are failing to take care of the available players we have at our disposal, am just watching the unfolding events though I am pained by the developments,” said Masomere.
A brutal assessment of Ndombolo’s showings has revealed a team that has been playing an unattractive brand of football, at times a virtual eyesore that has seen the Mutare based outfit losing five consecutive matches.
On the field of play, right back Saimon Choenda is slowly becoming a problematic child as he was entrusted with a $100 to share with other players as part of their bonus and decided to use it for his personal use. Further Choenda did not travel with the team when they played against Bulawayo based Bantu Rovers last weekend for unknown reasons.
Left back Moses Gutu has also gave an ultimatum for the executive to find salaries for the players threatening to quit his services to the army team, by next Monday if he is not paid his dues.
Insiders say Gutu has already been called by Eastern Region Division 1 outfit Mutare City Rovers.
The former Div1 Gaza Gunners player has often extended threats of boycotting crucial matches citing lack of payment. If Gutu cut ties with Buffaloes the army team will heavily rely on Thembani Kelvin and Chakoroma Liberty on the rearguard.
Only three weeks ago attacking midfielder Frank Bushiri crossed the border to Mozambique to join his fellow teammate Evans Gwekwerere, who is plying his trade in Mozambique. Bushiri had to return back to the army team and appeared in the match against How mine where the team was hammered 1-3.
Despite being called back into the army camp, the attacking midfielder has found a new home in Bulawayo based Chicken Inn.
Prodigal son Michael Mwaramba who had also crossed to Mozambique joined the team when they played against their sister team Black Rhinos in Kadoma where again Ndombolo were humbled to a 0-1 defeat.
Last season Buffaloes printed jerseys for resale to hard-to-please Mutare supporters with each jersey going for $15 in a bid to lure more supporters to Sakubva stadium but the move appeared to have made little difference in terms of attendance.
Sources privy to the goings on in the club revealed to Pungwe Sport that the return of Bushiri was catapulted by Masomere who claimed to have come along with the player from his former team Shabanie Mine and that the revered coach had extended some unspecified threats to the player, prompting his return to the club.
But away from the on-field inconsistencies, former Buffaloes spokesperson Tendai Chitowa was reported to have quitted from the executive some weeks ago. Chitowa a former army captain held the position of team spokesperson since 2012 when the team returned in the top flight domestic league in the country.
Inside sources in the club could not explain the reasons behind Chitowa’s voluntary relinquish of his post in the Hlanganiso Matangaidze eight member executive.
Buffaloes organising secretary Arnold Gatsi could not be reached for comment as his phone was unavailable by the time of going to press.
