Harare, Zimbabwe. (News Of The South) – IT will be a memorable Good Friday for music lovers when three of Zimbabwe’s top musicians, Soul Jah love, Suluman Chimbetu and Ricky Fire perform at newly-opened joint, Tanza Centre Bar and Night Club situated behind Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex in the dormitory town.
Good Friday this year falls on Friday, March 25, culminating in the long Easter holiday meant to commemorate the crucifixion and eventual resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Befittingly, the trio will rock their legion of fans in “Chitown’ in what promises to be one of the most memorable gigs this year in the town that is known for its passion for art and entertainment.
Dubbed “The Biggest First Biggest Show in Chitungwiza”, the gig promises to live up to its billing considering that this is probably the first outing that “Chibaba”, as Soul Jah Love is fondly called in music circles, will come head to head with his close buddies and brothers in the music trenches, Sulu and Ricky Fire.
As with Sulu, the duo have collaborated on one of Sulu’s hottest tracks titled “Nyuchi”, which was probably inspired by his late father’s song, “Nyuchi YeGonera”, which also carries a similar message.
This time around, the “bees” are going to not only buzz in the town but also sting their “venom” into the entertainment-crazed people of Chitown who will be observing both the Easter holiday as well as the opening of the new joint in their vicinity, Tanza Centre.
The cherry on top of the music cake will be in the form of the sure-fire performer, Ricky Fire, who apart from being one of the popular names in Zim-Dancehall circles, has also helped in putting Chitungwiza on the music map.
By virtue of him performing in his hometown, Ricky Fire – who is son to legendary gospel musician Baba Mechanic manyeruke – will be out to prove a point why he deserves the fame that is attached to him like a tattoo.
He has a string of hit songs like “Ita Seunononga”, among others, which have gained anthemic status, and in similar fashion to what his contemporaries in Mbare like Killar T, Seh Kallaz and Soul Jah Love are doing, Ricky Fire will also want to show all and sundry that Chitown has what it takes to be a force to reckon with in the genre.
And talking of the issue of being a force to reckon with in the entertainment industry, the officials at Tanza Centre – Bar and Night Club have also vowed that they are to prove their mettle as one the best joints not only in Chitown but in Zimbabwe.
