HARARE. (News of The South) – – Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) has, with immediate effect, reviewed the cover price of its leading newspaper, Newsday as it seeks to keep pace with the surging inflation.
NewsDay now cost Z$15 each, representing a 50% increase from Z$10 previous price. The Standard’s and Zimbabwe Independent’s new cover price is yet to be seen. Over the past few years, the cost of doing business has actually gone up.
The latest development is in line with the prevailing economic condition, where retail shops are pricing based on the movement of parallel market rates.
However, Daily News and The Herald cover price remains the same at Z$10 and Z$6 respectively. The country’s largest media group, Zimpapers is running promotion on its daily paper which is poised to end in the next few weeks.
The southern African nation has been plunged into uncertainty as things continue to escalate, with the local currency constantly losing value.
