By Busani Dube ZimFirst GCI Chairman.
ZimFirst Global Campaign Initiative (GCI) seeks to build a coalition of Diasporans and home based Zimbabweans because all Zimbabweans are equal stakeholders to charting the destiny of our country.
It is estimated that more that 4 million compatriots have left the country. They don’t neither vote nor included as stakeholders in decision making table.
The two existing main political parties view diasporans as a source of income and limited to being political activists only. ZimFirst Party is a platform of fresh ideas and fresh blood.
To harness these ideas and provide a platform these ideas can coalesced, ZimFirst has within its structures a Global Campaign Initiative.
GCI that seek to build a broader coalition among all Zimbabweans, in particular those who have been left out of the political discourse. Let us remember that not all things are political. Some people want to support political activities and others prefer to support with ideas that build the country.
The GCI in its uniqueness provides Zimbabweans with a fresh approach to Zimbabweans politics. The road to a lasting solution to Zimbabwe’s perennial economic and social problems should involve all Zimbabweans, home and abroad.
It is noteworthy that Involving Zimbabweans in the diaspora does not make ZimFirst or any other party with similar situation a diaspora party. ZimFirst has a leadership both in Zimbabwe (80%) and abroad.
It is well documented that Diasporans anchor the Zimbabwe economy through their monetary remittances to family members and as such it is important that these diasporans have a platform to channel their voices. GCI is the one. We are canvassing and mobilizing people who have not been given a voice other than being asked for money.
Therefore, ZimFirst’s GCI is a call to all Diaspons to be actively involved in the decision making process in matters that involve their country. We welcome you all to the novel Global Campaign Initiative.
