Harare, Zimbabwe. (News Of The South) – After a five year hiatus, Zimbabwe’s lovers rock reggae nightingale Sister Flame is set to make a massive comeback with a mixtape titled Love, Sweat and Tears.

Born Fortunate Matenga the former “More Fire” crew member returns to the music scene with a 12 track mixtape due for release in September. The mixtape will revamp reggae music in Zimbabwe.

In a wide ranging interview with News of the South the 36 year old songstress said she is back for good.

“I have been quiet for a while doing some hustles. You know I had to focus on my children. Now that they have grown up a little, its time I return to the music scene. I`m back for good now,” she said.”The mixtape is due for release in September though I haven`t come up with a specific date.”

The Ngubani songstress said this mixtape which precedes her forthcoming album scheduled for October has great songs.

Sister Flame has since dropped a song from the mixtape named Music is my life.

The smooth reggae track is about her return to the music industry.

Sister Flame’s return however comes at a time when reggae music is playing in the shadows of Zimdancehall music.

In a daunting music industry overshadowed by Zimdancehall which has seen an influx of females in the genre, Sister Flame’s mixtape will bounce her back in a blazing way.

“There’s a lot of talented reggae female artists out there who need help with recording and shows. They give up or do it part time in the end because of lack of support financially emotionally,” she said.

A mother of three, Sister Flame who is also trying her hand at making music beats encouraged females to join the male dominated lovers rock genre.

“Our industry is highly male dominated. Women have to work extra hard to be heard.

“I say to them it`s never easy they must never give up they must keep pushing.”Ngavauye vasatye tochimiksa takawanda zvino fayah!!(Females should come join in, for there is power in numbers),” she challenged them.

Starting off as a dancer in theatre groups in Bulawayo, she answered to her true calling of singing.

She was pare More Fire Crew comprising of the late great Andy Brown. More Fire was a band that backed the infamous Land reform programme, a move that put their careers on the line.

As the More Fire Crew unbundled, this vocalist went solo to release her first album in 2006 titled The Road.

In 2012 she came with another offering entitled The Flame of House.

Apart from Sister Flame, Eyahra Mathazia and Lady Thanda are among the handful of women singing reggae music.
