Heal Zimbabwe Trust, an organization focused on rebuilding national cohesion through promotion of tolerance and co-existence in local communities says Zimbabweans must fail political affiliations and start to address issues to do with reconciliation and conflict transformation.
Speaking on behalf of his organization in Harare recently, Heal Zimbabwe Trust Programs Manager Mr. Cleto Manjova said Zimbabweans must focus on ending undesired conflicts in a short time and transform previous conflicts into something desired by focusing not only on the content of the conflict but more importantly on the context and relationship of actors involved.
He urged Zimbabweans to participate in restoring right relationships between people who have been enemies and thanked peace organs for reaching reconciliation in a new era in Zimbabwe.
“Through the work of organs like the Organ for National Healing and Heal Zimbabwe Trust, people gained a rich literature on different efforts for reconciliation.
“Since reconciliation is a desired merit in divided societies, these organs pragmatically succeeded in dealing with profound changes involving past injustices to achieve peace building, nurturing democracy, promoting human rights and delivering justice among others,” said Manjova.
He also urged youths to engage the government to transform structures that perpetrate division saying this is necessary for prosperity.
Meanwhile, Manjova said apology serves to build unity between victims and perpetrators, a change desired in the relational dimension of conflict transformation.
