The wait is finally over!
Zimbabwean based mixed acapella ensemble Reunion has finally quenched the apparent thirst for a new album which was evident among their countless followers with the launch of their latest offering titled manithandane. (Love one another)
The 14 track album which was recorded at MFDT Studios in Harare carries a plethora of songs that are laden with special messages that Christians living in the last days need to help them prepare for the soon coming of the Saviour.
A unique mixed voice octet, Reunion is known for their sophisticated harmonies, and an eclectic repertoire of original songs and distinctive arrangements.
This is evident in this gem of an album released recently.
Ndaba JD Ngwenya the group’s founding director says the album has its roots in John 13 v34-35 which encourages brethren to unconditionally love one another.
“The world has now become the complete opposite of what we want it to be. People kill, steal and rape for fun because they no longer have love for the next person.
“Our album is a plea to everyone who cares to listen that we should love each other just like Christ loved us and died for our transgressions so that we may be made whole,” said the soft spoken Ngwenya.
Manithandane carries potential hit songs like kuneni, born again, bayathaba and alikho elinye ibizo.
Reunion group music director Christopher Chidzanja believes that the album which also carries a bonus track dedicated to the beautiful country of Zimbabwe is a result of hard work and sheer determination driven by the desire to be unique.
“Inspired by the wealth of new talent in the acapella world, we have worked hard to find our voice and put a unique stamp on the acapella scene. We pride ourselves in our original arrangements, the sound that we produce, and our ability to maintain a healthy balance between our music and active lifestyles,” he said.
Performing an eclectic mix of covers and originals, Reunion has been described as both ‘sexy and sophisticated.’ Their ability to set the audience ablaze with their infectious energy and seamless harmony is unmatched no wonder why they have performed steadily at venues large and small within the country and the region since their inception in 1999.
Reunion is a 10 member mixed group affiliated to the Seventh Day Adventist Church and this is the group’s eighth album having dished out popular albums like, thank you, send me, Anondida, testimonies among others.
The group draws inspiration from their life theme titled ‘music is a prayer and an answer to a prayer
