Another UK based Zimbabwean child, 10 year old MJ Changwereza is one of Britain`s top young players.
In England MJ who lives in Sutton is currently the second best player for U10s and has so far won the LTA’s Aegon Summer National Tour finals.

THE LAWN Tennis Association (LTA) reversed its decision to charge a tennis prodigy tipped as Britain’s answer to Serena Williams for practice sessions.

Young Chagwereza was overjoyed to hear that fees for the top tier tennis players would be scrapped following a recent increase to £12 per session.

MJs mother 46 year old Maria Chagwereza was not sure how she would have been able to pay the fees to support her daughter and encourage her to continue playing tennis.
Coach Lou Laznicky advised MJs mother to let her daughter use the NTC indoor court during the winter season.

The NTC which opened in 2007 provides indoor tennis courts is located in Roehampton in South London.
“He didn’t want her to stop playing as she understands the game and is keen to learn. He believes MJ using an indoor court would help improve her technique,” said Chagwereza.

Chagwereza added: “I wrote an email explaining we couldn’t afford it, but they said we still had to pay. MJ was very upset.”

Laznicky, MJ’s coach said: “Unfortunately, to make it big in tennis you need to have money.”
The LTA reneged on its initial decision last Friday. The talent coordinator at the association informed MJ of the good news.

Maria Changwereza told The Voice: “I had been stressed from the start of September when I found out we had to pay. It was a relief to find out MJ can now use the courts for free. We very much appreciate it.”

A few days ago another Zimbabwean child 12 year old Michael Mhangami who is also doing well on the UK tennis courts had a fund raising dinner hosted for him in London.
