(News of The South) Barbados immediately took the lead by scoring in the 1st minute of the game which saw Zimbabwe’s Zimgems return the goal in a group F match which ended 67 : 41 in favour of Zimbabwe.

Barbados testing the waters then took the lead again bearing Zimbabwe with a 4 goal margin. Tournament underdogs Zimbabwe decided they were not to be underrated in a match their assistant coach Ropafadzo Mutsauki promised the team would baptise Barbados, they took over the driving seat and ended first quarter leading by 17 : 11.




Second quarter started off with Zimbabwe displaying powerful play as the ball awitched from one end to the goal area and Pauline Jani did what she does best by ensuring the goals are increased to widen to scoreline. She was aaaisted by Ursula Ndlovu who played Goal Attack.

Team captain Perpetua Siyachitema was substituted by Ndaizivei Madzikangava and later back in to complete the last quarter and see Zimbabwe walk away with a win.

Before the match assistant coach Ropafadzo Mutsauki who spoke to News of The South promized fans that Zimgems would baptise Barbados.

After the teams win head coach said ” We got a well desrved win due to the team work displayed by the Zimgems, we re tified our mistakes and everyone went into the game knowing they had to fight for a win”

Barbados missed numerous goals as the goal shooters were off target on numerous occasions, defence was very weak as Zimbabwe managed to penetrate their play.

Zimgems goal keeper Rudo Karume who helped to seal the dedence said ” Today I managed to jumo a lot which worked well in keeping the ball from Barbados shooters, today’s game didn’t come with pressure” .




Captain Perpetua Siyachitema said ” I am overjoyed with our win, we went out there to fight for what we prepared for and we got it. We fought like hungry lionsThe whole world now knows not to mess about with Zimbabwe when it comes to netball, Zimbabweans are tough”

Wednesday is a resting day fof Zimbabwe who will ise the time for training. Zimbabwe face Malawi on Thursday a game to be played at 12 noon.
“We are prepared for Malawi and we will do the best to make Zimbabweans proud” said coach Makunde.

A win against Malawi will be crucial for Zimbabwe who will end in the top 6.
