Harare. (News of The South)- Government is creating a database of potential Board Members for state enterprises.
· They are looking for a minimum of 3000 names. The database is open to Zimbabweans.
· Interested members need to apply through a CV and indicating which Boards they will be happy to serve.
· A member may serve a maximum of 2 State enterprise boards at any one time
· Finer details on potential members are included in the new bill which is currently under scrutiny in parliament and is expected out by end of April.
· Boards are conscripted to sit quarterly and will have the usual sub-committees which are stipulated.
· Remuneration of all Boards is anticipated to be uniform
· Members can register online on cgu.pfms.gov.zw
· Board Members are expected to be people of high moral standing, integrity and are able to stand for the truth and not shy to speak their mind.
· line Ministers in choosing Board Members for enterprises under their purview are required to consult the database
· In the formation of the boards, the Minister must consider, regional and gender balances.
· It follows that each application or CV has to contain the original home of the applicant together with the current residence.
Please note that selection is not based on academics only, but included would be knowledge, expertise and experience.
Ambassador Stuart Comberbach explained at length the new Bill which is doing its rounds in Parliament and what is expected to come out as the Corporate Governance Act. It is expected to become an Act by end of April 2018.
The Board Members are expected to be key in stamping out corruption and fostering, morality, and good governance in general.
