Artists and celebrities from South Africa and Zimbabwe have taken to social media to wish for change to the people of Zimbabwe following escalation of human rights abuses by President Mnangagwa’s government.

The movement has gone viral as people are reposting messages they see and are writing their thoughts on social media wishing for a better Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe has been topping the chats for the wrong reasons these past few weeks, torturing political activists, abductions, sexual assaults and above all, arresting activists and journalist.
South African artists such as Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, Cassper Nyovest, Khaya Mthethwa have been posting on their Twitter handles “#ZimbabweanLivesMatter.”

“I am disgusted at how Africans treat Africans.How can we ever be respected if we cannot respect our own!,” Khaya Mthethwa said.
Some Zimbabwean artistes have also gone on their social media pages to support the cause.
“Stop police brutality.A normal democracy allows for freedom of expression!” musician Nox Nguni said.
World rugby champion ‘The Beast Tendai Mtawarira said:“My prayers this weekend have been with those that have been tortured and arrested in the intended peaceful protests back home. Constitutional rights should not be criminalized#FreeZimbabwe.”
Zakes Bantwini said:“With so much against us already as Black Africans all we got is each other let us not be against one another. #ZimbabweanLivesMatter.”
Political commentators say in Zimbabwe a lot of people want to speak out but are afraid of what will happen to them after speaking.There is freedom of speech but no freedom after speech.
Politicians from South Africa have also taken to social media to express dissapointment about abuse of human rights in Zimbabwe.
“Dear @Twitter please make a graphic for this hashtag. ZimbabweanLivesMatter.I think it deserves recognition in the same way that #BlackLivesMatter has a graphic,” South Africa’s former Democratic Alliance President Mmusi Maimane said.
Mbuyiseni Ndlozi of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters advocated for the fall of President Emmerson Mnangagwa as he posted #MnangagwaMustFall and #ZimbabweanLivesMatter.
