Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – Corona Virus (COVID 19) is an illness that can affect your lungs and airway. It is a deadly virus which has left many people crying as a result of losing their loved ones.

It started in China and manifested and found its way to many countries worldwide.

Where ever it got discovered it caused quite a scare and left a lot of people lifeless and more in hospitals awaiting their fate.

As the virus got to Zimbabwe’s neighbouring countries people waited to see what fate had in-store for them.
March 20, the first case of Corona Virus was reported in Zimbabwe.

As such, the same week the President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa had told people to practice social distancing and refrain from going to public gatherings.

“All public events postponed, the Independence celebrations, Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) have been postponed.

“Gatherings of more than 100 people have been banned be it weddings, church meetings,” he said.

Artistes also took it upon themselves to make comments in relation to the decision of banning public events.

“The banning of shows and public gatherings is a step in the right direction, it is good to follow instructions.
“Why we say so is because the health of the audience and the artistes is important".

“This outbreak is a passing phase and we will pray that it passes quickly.”

Seh Calaz:
“There is nothing more important more than life itself and while it is difficult for the industry we believe that our health and that of our fans comes first”.

“We support the decision in the interest of the nation, this pandemic calls for collective approach.
“Global events are being cancelled and Zimbabwe is no exception, we will overcome soon.”

All learning institutions, Primary, Secondary and also Tertiary are bound to close on March 24 as a result of a number of parents panicking for the safety of their children.

To date, people have refrained from gatherings but some are still waiting in long queues as they rely on the ZUPCO buses for transportation.

Some companies have told some of their workers to stop coming to work until the situation normalizes.

Some other companies have put people in groups so that they make sure that their work places can somehow be safe to work in.
People are hurrying to supermarkets and buying sanitizers and some people have even started to buy things in bulk and stock up.

It has been strongly suggested that people in Zimbabwe start practising self-quarantining as is recommended to ensure that the virus does not get to you, “Prevention is better than cure”.
