Zimbabwe (News of The South) – The ruling Zanu-PF party has endorsed the ministry of Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa as shown by its strong representation at Judgement Night 2 held at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday.
Several high ranking officials within the party and government attended the event which was reported to have attracted more than 160 000 people.
Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Walter Mzembi who had earlier endorsed the religious event as a magnet for tourists led a powerful delegation from the ruling party which included Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister, Ignatious Chombo.
Also in attendance was the Minister of State for Mashonaland West Province Faber Chidarikire, Minister of State for Harare, Mirriam Chikukwa and the Minister of State for Midlands, Jason Machaya.
There were also several deputy ministers and some parliamentarians. As if on cue Makandiwa prophesied that the country was poised for growth and would not return to the days of economic turmoil.
The Minister of State for the Midlands Jason Machaya was quoted by The Herald as saying the prophesy was in sync with government thinking. “We welcome the prophecy and it gives the nation hope. This is what is needed at this time,”
Machaya was quoted as saying. However, others denounced the prophesy as meaningless since it lacked timelines.
“How is it different from prophesying that we will die?” asked a commentator who chose to remain anonymous adding that Makandiwa spoke the obvious.
Perhaps the biggest indicator of Zanu-PF’s endorsement of Makandiwa is the publicity he is getting through the party’s Deputy Director of Information, Psychology Maziwisa who has become an avid praise singer and defender of Prophet Makandiwa. He has turned his Facebook page almost into a Makandiwa promotional page.
In his latest comments he castigates people who criticise Makandiwa.
“For a very long time people have tended to speak appallingly of Makandiwa as if there is something for certain that they know he has done wrong. The naked truth is that Makandiwa is blessed with a rare ability to draw people to God. His healing and prophetic prowess is almost without match in religious circles,” claimed Maziwisa.
Whatever the reasons for this endorsement by Zanu-PF it should come as good news to Makandiwa who was once castigated by Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa for promoting “laziness.” He is also, from now on, likely to receive positive coverage in the public media.
