Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-MDC-T spokesperson Obert Gutu has accused ZANU PF bosses of refusing bond notes from banks whilst foisting them upon the rest of the Zimbabwean population.
The lawyer says people should use their power and refuse them also.
“Zanu PF shefs dish out useless bond notes to majority of the people & they retain US dollars for themselves”.
“Why is it that Zanu PF Cabinet Ministers & other shefs don’t accept bond notes from banks?’
“They know bond notes are useless”, he charged.
Gutu further called for a national refusal of the new currency which the government has brought in to alleviate liquidity challenges.
He labelled as a failure the move to bring in the bond notes.
“Use of bond notes has added extreme misery to majority of Zimbabweans’ lives. Longer queues @ banks & lost man hours @ workplaces”.
“Zimbabweans should refuse to accept these worthless bond notes. Citizens have a right to refuse to be abused like this”, he said.
Gutu went on to advise the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor to call for a ban of the currency.
“RBZ should abandon bond notes immediately, Mangudya should see sense & tell his political masters to regain their financial sanity”.
The coming in of bond notes has done little so far to stop bank queues in the CBD were long lines of people are still evidence of continued shortage of cash in the country.
Government has however remained adamant the move is the right one and will yield positive results soon.
