Y2K promotions the UK based music promotions company behind the just ended Greatest Hits Tour which featured Oliver Mtukudzi and Sulu Chimbetu on Saturday honoured Moffat Nyamupandu the longest serving member of the Dendera Kings.

Nyamupandu who was presented with the award at the Leicester gig plays the bass guitar and has been a member of backing band, Dendera Kings for a total of 27 years.

Negos Bonnie Jana took the initiative to recognise those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make things happen.

Y2K Promotions Director Fred Matenga who spoke to News Of The South said: “Y2K is bringing a new twist to long serving people in the music industry, people don’t realise their input to music, they are not appreciated. People like Sam Mataure and many more are not appreciated.

“Even in Zimbabwe when they have awards people behind the scenes should be honoured. They should have categories to honour people behind the scenes. This should be the beginning and we give thanks to people like Negos”.

The Greatest Hits Tour took place in London on Friday March 21 and Leicester Saturday March 22.
