(News Of The South) – New footage of the shooting of Walter Scott has been released online.

The dash-cam video filming from the police patrol car shows Michael Slager, a white police officer who fatally shot unarmed African-American citizen Walter Scott, pulling up behind Scotts’ car before asking him to get out of the vehicle for some questioning.

Although the footage shows the victim fleeing the scene shortly after, it doesn’t show the actual shooting.
The fatal incident occurred in North Charleston, South Carolina, during the day of April 4. It caused mass outrage on social media sites after an eye witness posted a video of the shooting itself online, continuing the debate on whether #blacklivesmatter.

Apartheid-era statue vandalism continues (Cape Town, South Africa)
Another monumental statue has been vandalised following a string of attacks believed to be led by the radical Economic Freedom Fighters party followers.

The 112 year old Queen Victoria statue, which stands outside the city library in Port Elizabeth, was splashed with green paint. Concerns have been raised over the future of South Africa’s heritage after growing fears that the attacks will cause the already racially charged debate to spiral out of control.

The first attack took place a month ago when a student of the University of Cape Town flung a bucket of excrement over the statue of the British colonialist Cecil John Rhodes.
