Harare. (News Of The South) – GIFT Amuli’s former manager Sifelizwe Fair Shumba, who is also a musician in his own right, has released his fourth album titled “Chifinhu” that is already causing a stir on Radio Zimbabwe and National Fm since its release last month.
Those with a long memory will remember Shumba for his hit song “Vachibhanzi Vauya” that was released in 2002 featured on an album of the same title.
Shumba managed Amuli from 2005 until last year, when he decided to concentrate on his solo career as a musician after having been in the background for a long time.
“After the impression that ‘Vachibhanzi Vauya’ had on people in 2002, they have been requesting me to release something can match the standards that the song set. And I am happy to sell that, although I have released other albums, the quality and hard work that went into this new project is impressive,” said the Chitungwiza-based Sungura musician.
One of the songs on the album, “Tiri Vatadzi” has already found its way into Radio Zimbabwe’s Top 20 while “Nyarai” and “Mwana Wandaichema” are also listeners’ favourites.
The album tackles a variety of issues to do with social life and also urges people to remain resolute and soldier on with faith in the face of adversities. “Vemhiri Dzokai” targets those who are based in the Diaspora to come back home since their movements have caused social and family rifts.
“Mwana Wandaichema” is about a man who is praising the love of his love whom he struggled very hard to win, while in “Mazvara Gororo”, a parent is regretting the bad ways of his or her child. “Nyararai”, “Tiri Vatadzi” as well as its instrumental version make up the rest of the playlist. Recorded at Diamond Studios, the album comes after “Unovhaira Nei?” (2000), “Vachibhanzi Vauya” (2002) and “Zai Regondo ” (2005).
“Piracy is a cancer that has affected the music industry and without curbing it the future of artistes is doomed. We are not getting enough from our work,” he said.
