Shamu however faced the wrath of subserviced dust-roads which villagers from the Shangani Community endured daily as they travel.
Chiredzi South Member of Parliament Kalisto Gwanetsa said Minister Shamhu honoured his in promise that he will avail more Post Buses in Chikombedzi to end the pressing transport blues.
“Minister Shamhu promised that he will deploy more buses to Chiredzi South to end the perennial transport challenges which villagers from my constituency faced for a long time. Now the second bus has come and everyone is celebrating. This is a very welcome development for my constituency. I just hope that NetOne will also come and set network boosters in the area,” said Gwanetsa.
Gwanetsa’s constituency lacks basic communication infrastructure such as roads and mobile phone networks and this has left villagers at the mercy of cattle rustlers who are taking advantage of the areas backwardness.
Shamhu earlier said the country needs leaders who are people centered evidenced by representing the needs of the community that elected you as that is key towards development.
“The reason why Zimbabweans went to war was because we wanted to defeat an oppressing Smith regime. We wanted to retain our independence and this is what we are enjoying. Now that we have power we just say buses must go to Chiredzi and service the routes. I will tell people at Netone to start setting busters in this area because we have the power,” said Shamhu.
Zimpost Managing Director Dr Douglas Zimbango said they are now rebranding their postal services by offering a bus parcel service that will improve efficiency and fastness in courier services.
“We have this specifically designed bus with a compartment to carry all parcels which one would have sent to their loved ones. Parcels will also be delivered be it veterinary medicines because we want everything to be easy for you cattle farmers from this area.
We have also opened three sub post offices in this area make it the only rural area with a chain of post offices,” said Dr Zimbango.
