Kampala – Ugandans are known to be generally happy people. They work almost as hard as they love partying. Little wonder the pearl of Africa has its place in countries rated for heavy drinking.

For this reason, two young Ugandans have been thinking smart about how best they can exploit this opportunity.

The fruition of their thought and efforts is a new application called Vipi, which will be guiding users on where to shake off stress or relax after routine schedule or work, over the week or during your leave from work.

For starters Vipi is a Swahili word that means; ‘what is up?’ or ‘What is going on?’ So the word is in sync with what the app does as the developers explain:
“It lets you know what is happening, where it is happening and when it is happening. The concept of events is a universal one and in the event that we take Vipi across borders it will be easily received in East Africa and Africa at large given that Swahili is an international language,” Robert Omony and Ronald Adonyo explain.

The duo runs this under their Information Technology (IT) company called Irio Systems.
Vipi is a rich events’ catalogue on mobile that guides anyone with a smart phone on what places and events are happening of different art forms.

Omony and Adonyo say they developed the app in November last year. “We published the android app on the Google play store on December 2. “It is now also available on desktop and all other mobile platforms,” they add.
