Chivi, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) -A Chivi Rural Council run truck inn at Chivi Turn Off is a health hazard to the people as there are dilapidating toilets used by truck drivers and no source of water is supplied by the owners News Of The South has learnt.
The truck inn which has been running for years has been changing hands since the space is a rural council place,however after all people who ran the place failed to compile with what health officials want Chivi Rural Council took it and started to run the place on their own,but they have done nothing as far as sanitation is concerned thereby making the person community and and local people to be exposed to health hazard.
The toilets are in a sorry state and when there is no rain the dust is seen in the air violating the right to environment causing discomfort.
One local person who runs a food cafe at the business centre who spoke to News Of The South on condition of anomnity said”As people who are also into business of cooking the food consumed by people we tried our best to the council but nothing has been done to address the situation and an outbreak of diseases like cholera and other water borne diseases might affect the local community it’s high time we as business people we come together and protest against this type of operation”
His sentiments were echoed by many people who live at the business centre and beyond.
