AN epic, titanic, explosive clash is expected this afternoon as the two city rivals, Harare giants Caps United and Dynamos face each other at the giant National Sports Stadium with an anticipated bumper crowd to gather and cheer their beloved teams.
Besides, supremency and prestige for the traditional rivalry both teams are playing sighting on their targets with Caps United who are on the apex of the log standing would want to win and maintain their pole position on the summit of the log and go all the way to clinch the Championship title whereas their arch-rivals Dynamos who are on fifth position on the log table with 44 points would want to finish the season in a respectable position possibly among the top four.
The host Caps will be banking on the inform stocky creative offensive talented midfielder Joel “Josta” Ngodzo who is likely to be deployed in the middle of the park operating behind the hard running bulldozing twin forwards Dominic Chungwa and Newman Sianchali who is likely to partner the former in the absence of the suspended John Zhuwawo.
The hard tackling defensive linkman Dominic Mukandi is likely to start for the Green machine and maintain his place in that defensive role.Whilst the visitors will be looking forward to their evergreen star player young talented wing back Emmanuel Jalai to thwart and shut down the danger and offensive attack that is likely to be poised by the Caps United speedy dribbling slippery wizardry winger Phineas Bhamusi.
Dynamos will be also expecting their mid season signing, the dread locked former Mushowani fc and National team Warriors fringe striker Evans Katema to provide them with the needed goals.Katema who has 12 goals to his name so far trail the current top goal scorer Clive Agusto who played for Chicken Inn before he left for South Africa Absa premier soccer league with 14 goals. His tally is yet to be seen whether it will be surpassed before the close of the season and the Dynamos striker Katema has the brightest chance to clinch the golden boot award if he bangs the goals atleast one goal per game in all the remaining matches.
The forgotten Dynamos hitman Ngandu Mangala who had a false promising start in the opening stages of the season is nowhere to be found among the top marksman, those vying for the golden boot race award.
Ngandu who has turned to be a pale shadow of himself has disappointed many,Mangala caused anxious moments to defenders, with his runs, off the ball or when ever in possession, his ball artistry, dribbling wizardry, an energetic striker has let down his fans and soccer lovers in general who expected the resemblance of Moses Chunga in terms of getting a harvest of goals but the Democratic born forward has gone for a hiding, goal shy,now toothless,an ordinary and fearless striker than expected with his technical capabilities, qualities more so with his impressive show where he scored two beautiful goals against Mushowani stars in the opening league match of the 2019 season.
Ngandu must come out of his shells and show the world his talent and restore his confidence before the season end, he is indeed such a good quality striker.
Meanwhile,Chicken Inn’s hopes of winning the title were dented yesterday afternoon at Luveve Stadium where they got a rude awakening call when they were thrashed 3-1 by the minors relegation threatened Bulawayo Chiefs giving Caps United the advantage to stretch the gap.
The ball is now in their hands(Caps)to consolidate their lead on the apex of the log table.
The Joey Antipas led team failed to win the derby against the relegation threatened Bulawayo chiefs ironically losing grip for the fight for the Championship title.
Yadah stars made a tremendous step in the fight for survival when they despatched the out of sorts troubled Harare City fc at Rufaro stadium 2-0 yesterday afternoon.
Derbies are always unpredictable regardless of the current performance of the team. The match between Caps United and Dynamos can go either way although the former has got a slight advantage over their old rivals Dynamos.
